Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivelin Vladov takes office today as director of the Institute of Experimental Morphology, Pathology and Anthropology with Museum (IEMPAM) of BAS. He was elected by the BAS Governing Council in a competition for director for the period 2026–2030.

The scientific activity of Assoc. Prof. Vladov and the institute he heads is focused on two main areas: Biomedicine and quality of life, and Anthropological characteristics and national identity, including clarification of the pathogenesis and development of modern diagnostic and therapeutic methods for socially significant diseases, combined with research into the impact of environmental factors and biologically active substances on health, as well as comprehensive anthropological studies of the Bulgarian population from ancient times to the present day for the needs of medicine and criminology, clarification of national ethnogenesis, and development of virtual anthropology through the implementation of artificial intelligence. https://iempam.bas.bg/

The main objectives of his management program are related to improving the scientific quality and international integration of the institute. His program envisages a targeted policy for attracting and retaining young staff and supporting rapid career growth. A key objective will also be the complete digitization of the National Anthropological Museum’s collections and the creation of an open online platform.
