The National Academy of Art will celebrate its 130th anniversary, said Rector Prof. Georgi Iankov, announcing that an international scientific conference was planned for the occasion. He extended an invitation to the Academy’s scientists to participate.
During the meeting, Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov, Vice-President of BAS and former Director of the BAS Institute of Art Studies, emphasized that signing the memorandum was a great honor for the Academy. There are many points that unite the history of the two institutions, and one of them is the personality of Academician Ivan Lazarov who was a lecturer at the Academy and director of an institute at BAS, Prof. Moutafov explained. He suggested that students from the National Academy of Art exhibited their works in the foyer of BAS. As an example, he cited the fruitful cooperation with the National Music Academy and the regular concerts by students in the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS which are very popular.
In February, the two parties agreed, an exhibition of student posters dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the discovery of the planet Pluto would be organized at BAS.
On the occasion of the 155th anniversary of the Academy’s founding, a bilingual scientific album has been published which includes works of art from the collections of BAS. The official presentation will take place on February 10 at 5:00 p.m. in the “Winter Garden” Hall of the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Studies with Ethnographic Museum of BAS.
