Students from five schools in Sofia are participating in the “Scientist for a Day” initiative organized by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Austrian Embassy in Sofia. The event is dedicated to International Women’s Day on March 8, said BAS Vice-President Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva who introduced the participants.
The initiative will allow students to learn about the work of researchers from various fields at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences – Physics, Astronomy, History, Mathematics and information technology, Biology and chemistry, and Bioinformatics.
The idea is to encourage young people, especially young women, to engage in science, said Antonia Bierbaumer, Deputy Head of the Austrian Embassy, adding that International Women’s Day was not just a holiday, but a day to recognize the remarkable achievements of women in all spheres of social life.
The results of the “Scientist for a Day” initiative will be presented on April 17.
