The Vice-President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov and the Director of the “Ivan Vazov” National Theatre, Vasil Vasilev, discussed the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two institutions today at a meeting at the theatre. The Academy has established cooperation with the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts, the National Academy of Music, and the National Academy of Art, said Prof. Moutafov, presenting the joint initiatives that have been organized.
Prof. Moutafov was director of the Institute of Art Studies at BAS and spoke about the research work of theatre scholars at the Academy. The National Theatre is set to premiere the Little England play based on the novel of the same name by Ioanna Karystiani. This is the first theatrical adaptation of the work. The book, which won the Greek National Literature Prize in 1998, was translated by Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov.
During the meeting, the Vice-President invited the theatre director to attend the first consultative meeting on the “150 Years of the April Uprising: Memory, Unity, and Future” national appeal organized by BAS on March 13.
