Prof. Irena Zareva, PhD, Director of the Economic Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, received a certificate from Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova during the official ceremony of the“Business to the rules” national awards competition for 2025.
The competition was organized by the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association, and the award for the institute, along with the Ministry of Economy and Industry (MEI), is in the category: “For a legislative act or administrative practice leading to the reduction of the shadow economy and the improvement of the business environment.”
At the request of MEI, economists of BAS had been preparing a weekly report on producer prices from July to December 2025 with the aim of providing objective and accurate information on changes in producer prices as part of the country’s preparations for joining the eurozone as well as identifying and preventing speculative trading practices. Weekly reports were prepared summarizing price changes across 7 product groups and 33 specifically monitored indicators, based on which administrative and regulatory actions were taken to eliminate speculation and brighten the Bulgarian economy.
