The President of BAS, Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo, H.E. Haxhi Bajraktari. During the conversation, they discussed opportunities for strengthening scientific cooperation between Bulgaria and Kosovo within the framework of the bilateral Agreement between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Kosova Academy of Sciences and Arts.

Particular emphasis was placed on cooperation in the field of education, specifically the possibility of guest lecturers from BAS delivering lectures in Bulgarian language programs at the University of Pristina, as well as opportunities for researchers from Kosovo to participate in doctoral programs in Bulgaria. Corr. Memb. Slavcheva and H.E. Haxhi Bajraktari agreed that the geographical proximity of the two countries and the excellent relations between them form the basis for deepening ties in the fields of science and education.

We would like to remind you that on December 10, 2025, the Kosova Academy of Sciences and Arts celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of its founding. Among the official guests at the anniversary celebrations was Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov, DSc., Vice-President of BAS. Corr. Memb. Slavcheva congratulated H.E. Bajraktari on the election in December 2025 of the new President of the Kosova Academy of Sciences and Arts, Acad. Justina Shiroka-Pula, and expressed a desire for a meeting between the presidents of the two academies.

Also present at the meeting at BAS were the Academy’s Vice-Presidents, Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva and Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov, and the Deputy Head of the Mission, Dr. Bujar Deskaj.
