The President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva, participated in the 2026 General Assembly of the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities (ALLEA) which took place on May 26–29 in Warsaw. This year, the General Assembly was hosted by the Polish Academy of Sciences.
During the meeting, the Action Plan for the implementation of the ALLEA Strategy for 2025–2030 was presented which aims to operationalize the organization’s strategic document as well as a report on deepening the partnership between ALLEA and the European Academies’ Science Advisory Council (EASAC). ALLEA’s leadership provided an overview of the organization’s activities in 2025, including the Science Advice for Policy by European Academies (SAPEA) and the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) projects, funded by the European Commission.
During the General Assembly, Corr. Memb. Slavcheva attended a public conference dedicated to the European Research Area as well as the award ceremony for the 2025 “Madame de Staël” Prize, presented to Prof. Maria Leptin, President of the European Research Council.
The European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities (ALLEA) represents more than 60 academies from over 40 countries in Europe. The organization’s work focuses on improving conditions for science and research, providing the best independent and interdisciplinary science-based advice, and strengthening the role of science in society.
