Technology solutions, services, and projects from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences aimed at industry as well as best practices for collaboration, were presented during the “Science for Business” forum and networking event which took place today at the Inter Expo Center.
President Iliana Iotova opened the sixth edition of the forum. The wealth of modern societies is created where knowledge meets the entrepreneurial spirit, and scientific inventions are transformed into production and a competitive advantage, said the president, emphasizing that Bulgaria had everything necessary for this: talented scientists, creative engineers, an enterprising business community, and a tradition of scientific excellence.
Iliana Iotova congratulated the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency which were organizing the event, and noted that holding the forum was proof of how the government, the scientific community, and the business sector can speak with one voice – for the benefit of Bulgaria and its development. “We need to turn these advantages into a common national goal,” the president said at the opening. She thanked Bulgarian scientists for their dedication and commitment. “We have every reason to be proud of the achievements of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences,” the President emphasized, highlighting developments in various fields such as information technology, medicine, robotics, new materials, energy efficiency, and others.
“Science for Business” is one of the most important events on the BAS calendar. The event has not only become a tradition but has also channeled the efforts of scientists engaged in applied research to showcase their work, said the President of BAS, Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva. She emphasized that with each passing year, more and more products and technologies were featured at the forum, and the booths in the exhibition area demonstrated the functionality of the products created by the Academy. “The most difficult path to take in order for one of our inventions to become a reality is the journey from the laboratory prototype to the market,” Corr. Memb. Slavcheva added.
Deputy Ministers of Innovation and Digital Transformation Atanas Maznev and of Education and Science Academician Nikolay Vitanov welcomed the participants at the event.
The Academy’s research institutes showcased their latest developments and new products in a dedicated exhibition area to business representatives and discussed their practical applications and market adoption. The “Science for Business” forum has become a key driver of innovation, technological progress, and economic development. In Bulgaria, as in many other countries, the symbiosis between science and business is becoming increasingly important for stimulating research and development.
