On July 14, 2026, representatives of the Institute for Population and Human Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IPHS at BAS) held a meeting with the Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Natalia Efremova.
The meeting focused on ways for BAS researchers to effectively support the ministry’s efforts by providing the databases and analyses necessary for evidence-based policymaking. The possibility of enhancing the qualifications of demography experts working in municipalities was discussed, as well as potential ways to coordinate this process. The meeting was attended by Minister Natalia Efremova, Deputy Minister Nadya Klisurska, and Chief of Staff Zornitsa Vasileva. Prof. Antoaneta Hristova, DSc – Director of the institute and Prof. Zheni Staykova took part in the meeting representing IPHS-BAS.
