From 23 to 30 July 2027, the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) – the most significant and large-scale event in the world of mathematical sciences – is taking place in Philadelphia, USA. The Bulgarian mathematical community is represented at the forum by leading scientists and heads of academic institutions. Participating in the congress are Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS – Director of the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS), Corresponding Member Peter Boyvalenkov – Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IMI–BAS) and Prof. Velichka Milousheva – Deputy Director of ICMS and of IMI–BAS.

The International Congress of Mathematicians is organised every four years under the auspices of the International Mathematical Union (IMU) and brings together thousands of mathematicians from around the world to present the latest achievements, to present the most prestigious awards in the field (including the Fields Medal) and to set future directions for the development of mathematical science. Further information on the programme can be found on the official website of ICM 2026.

As part of this prestigious forum, a short film created especially for the event was screened, dedicated to the work, mission and achievements of the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS).
