The President of BAS, Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva, met with Prof. Christoph Markschies, President of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, today at the Academy.

During the visit, Prof. Markschies presented the Academy’s activities, main areas of focus and priorities. In the course of the discussions, the possibilities for establishing cooperation between the two academies were explored. Archaeology, sociology, artificial intelligence, linguistics and digitisation were identified as areas of mutual interest.

The parties also explored various options for funding joint scientific initiatives. As a first step towards deepening the partnership, it was proposed that an agreement be signed to implement the grant scheme of BAS for carrying out bilateral research projects. The possibility of organising a joint scientific conference with the participation of the German Research Foundation (DFG) was also discussed.

The meeting was also attended by the Vice-President of BAS Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov.
