Academician Bogdan Petrunov is one of the most distinguished and leading scientists in the field of allergology and immunology – a highly erudite scholar with a wealth of general and medical knowledge who has safeguarded the health of thousands of people and gained widespread national and international renown.
Throughout his remarkable professional career, Acad. Petrunov has established himself as the founder of modern Bulgarian allergology. As the long-standing director of the National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (NCIPD) and an active member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, he has devoted decades to the development of Bulgarian science, to the creation of unique Bulgarian allergens for diagnosis and treatment, and to the training of generations of leading medical specialists.
His immense scientific contribution has been recognised worldwide through dozens of patents, hundreds of publications in prestigious international journals, and honorary memberships of foreign academies and scientific societies.
