The “Impressions” exhibition by Corresponding Member Zhivka Marinova opened in the foyer in front of the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences on 15 September and can be viewed until 30 September. This is the fourth painting exhibition to be held as part of the “BAS Presents:” initiative.

Corr. Memb. Zhivka Marinova studied painting in the class of Academician Svetlin Rusev at the National Academy of Art. Her journey in art reminds me of the Renaissance recipe for success: to learn from a master so that you, too, may become a master. With these words, the Vice-President of BAS Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov opened the exhibition and introduced Corr. Memb. Marinova. She works primarily in the 30/30 format, though also in 100/140 cm, using oil paints, and can unhesitatingly be described as one of our most elegant contemporary artists, with deep respect for the academic tradition. In this exhibition, Zhivka Marinova presents various cycles and periods from her creative output, said Prof. Moutafov, explaining that the 29 paintings have been arranged in accordance with the lighting and the challenging layout of the foyer.

The artists taking part in the “BAS Presents:” initiative are carefully selected and introduced by Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov, an art historian and Vice-President of BAS, and they donate works of theirs to the Academy.
