Sen. Asst. Prof. Dr Alexandra Milanova from the Institute of Balkan Studies with Centre for Thracology at BAS took part in the international Forum on Cultural Diplomacy in the USA and the UN. She presented a paper entitled “A Controversial History, a Shared Future: The Role of the United Nations in Cultural Diplomacy in the Balkans”.
The event, organised by the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, took place from 5 to 8 October 2026 at the US Congress in Washington and at UN Headquarters in New York. The Forum brought together diplomats, senators, Members of Congress, representatives of the UN and UNESCO, academics and lecturers, and experts in cultural diplomacy and international cooperation from around the world, united by the understanding that culture was an effective means of building trust, preventing conflicts and promoting understanding and cooperation.
