Sixty-four researchers affiliated with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences are among the top two per cent of researchers worldwide, shows this year’s ranking of researchers’ overall career development (known as the Stanford Ranking).

Twenty of these scientists are full members and corresponding members of BAS, whilst the rest are professors at the Academy’s institutes. A total of 102 Bulgarian researchers is included in this year’s Stanford Ranking.

The ranking is compiled annually based on an analysis of the scientometric indicators of over 12 million researchers whose publications are indexed in Scopus and reflects the impact that each individual researcher has had on the development of science.

A separate ranking has been compiled to assess the impact on scientific development over the previous year. It includes further 10 scientists and members of BAS who do not feature in the overall development ranking. Thus, across both rankings, the total number of scientists associated with the BAS is 74.
