A session dedicated to the life and scientific achievements of Academician Jordan Malinowski was held on June 6 at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS. The event was held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Bulgarian scientist and physical chemist, who is also the patron of the Institute of Optical Materials and Technologies (IOMT-BAS).

Acad. Malinowski is one of the most distinguished scientists in the field of physical chemistry, with a contribution to the study of photographic processes, said in his speech the President of BAS Acad. Julian Revalski and added that despite his achievements in innovations, he never neglected the importance of basic science. As President of BAS, Acad. Malinowski contributed to the development of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in the years after the democratic changes, said Prof. Revalski, Full Member of BAS.

The Director of IOMT-BAS Prof. Tsvetanka Babeva presented a report on the achievements of Acad. Malinowski. An award in his name was presented to a young scientist who won the competition announced by the Scientific Council of IOMT-BAS in connection with the celebration of the 100th jubilee. The winner of the award is Doctoral student Blaga Blagoeva from the Institute of Optical Materials and Technologies “Acad. Jordan Malinowski”.
