The Scientific Secretary-General of BAS, Prof. Neli Koseva, met today at the Academy with representatives of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The visit is part of Bulgaria’s preparations for negotiations for membership in the prestigious international organization. Prof. Koseva briefed the delegation on the activities of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and its cooperation with higher education institutions, business and interaction with society.

The OECD has a leading role in the development and implementation of the highest standards in all key areas such as governance, tax policy, transport infrastructure, agriculture, education, digital economy and innovations, climate, etc. The OECD has 38 member countries, including the most advanced economies from Europe, North America, South America and Asia. Along with Bulgaria, other candidates for OECD membership are Romania, Croatia, Brazil, Argentina and Peru.
