Ivan Shishmanov’s book of lectures “Slavic World. Freiburg Lectures 1923/1924” was presented on 19 March at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS. The compilers of the volume are Prof. Elizabeth Cheauré and Prof. Rumjana Koneva.

The event was opened by the Vice-President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evdokia Pasheva. “Prof. Shishmanov communicated with the world’s intellectual elite as an equal. He used his great international authority and accumulated experience in the cause that marked his creative and life path – to create bridges between the national and European cultural space”, Corr. Memb. Pasheva said in her speech.

Prof. Elisabeth Cheauré of the University of Freiburg has deciphered the notes and lecture notes of Shishmanov’s lectures in German. In a speech in Bulgarian, she thanked the team that had assisted in the presentation of the book in Prof. Shishmanov’s homeland.

This publication is a wonderful example of the scientific cooperation between Bulgaria and Germany, Prof. Julian Revalski, President of BAS (2016-2024) said. He congratulated the publishing house of BAS for the layout of the book.

The presentation of “Slavic World. Freiburg Lectures 1923/1924” at BAS was attended by Vice President Iliana Iotova, Deputy Minister of Culture Assoc. Prof. Todor Chobanov, the Rector of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Prof. Georgi Valchev, Prof. Rumjana Koneva, diplomats and representatives of the academic community. The event was hosted by journalist Boyko Vassilev.
