Interactive exhibition in Berlin of the Institute of Art Studies

In July and August, the "Architectural Heritage in Virtual Reality" exhibition realized by the Institute of Art Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and within the National Scientific Programme for the Development and Recognition of Bulgarian Studies Abroad (NSP "Bulgarian Studies") will be presented again in the hall of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin. Due to the great interest it aroused among Berliners at its opening in May 2025, the exhibition will be available for a longer time for those wishing to visit it. “Polymers 2025” National Symposium with international participation

The 21st National Symposium "Polymers 2025" with international participation was held from 29 June to 2 July in Kazanlak. The forum was launched in 1967 and over the years, it had established itself as the most significant event in the field of polymer science in Bulgaria, providing an opportunity for the presentation of scientific results, exchange of ideas and development of collaborations between Bulgarian and foreign scientists. The "Polymers 2025" Symposium was organized by the Institute of Polymers at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. Delegation from BAS participates in the Assembly of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO

The 33rd Assembly of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO took place from 25 June to 3 July 2025 at the UNESCO building in Paris. The Bulgarian delegation to the Assembly included: Prof. Valentina Todorova - Director of the Institute of Oceanology at BAS, Prof. Atanas Palazov - Chairman of the National Oceanographic Commission and Assoc. Prof. Nikolay Valchev - Vice-Chairman of the IOC. UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (UNESCO-IOC) promotes international cooperation in marine science to improve the management of the ocean, coasts and marine resources. IOC enables its 152 Member States to work together by coordinating programmes on capacity development, ocean observations and services, ocean science, tsunami warning and ocean literacy. Meeting-discussion “Greece’s culture is far more than the Acropolis” held at BAS

A public meeting-discussion on "Greece's culture is far more than the Acropolis" was held today at the “Acad. Ivan E. Geshov" Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It is part of a series of events on cultural diplomacy in Bulgaria and the Balkans organized by the Institute of Balkan Studies & Center for Thracology at BAS (IBSCT-BAS) in institutional partnership with the State Institute for Culture to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria (SIC). Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva meets with representatives of the “St. Cyril and St. Methodius” international foundation

The cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the “St. Cyril and St. Methodius” international foundation was discussed at a meeting today at BAS by Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva and representatives of the Foundation. Among the topics of discussion were joint initiatives on the occasion of the celebration of the 1160th anniversary of the conversion of the Bulgarians and the 1170th anniversary of the creation of the Bulgarian alphabet. “St. St. Cyril and St. Methodius” Foundation will continue to support the activities of the High-School-Students’ Institute of BAS (HSSI-BAS). The meeting was attended by the President of the Foundation, Prof. Stefan Stefanov, and the Executive Director Mihael Tachev.

Jubilee Scientific Conference OBOEDIENTIA ET PAX

A jubilee scientific conference on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the arrival in Bulgaria of Archbishop Angelo Roncalli, the future Pope John XXIII, was held today at the “Prof. Marin Drinov" Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The event on "Monsignor Roncalli and his Apostolic Mission in Bulgaria (1925-1934)" was opened by the President of BAS, Corr. Memb.
