BAS continues to help Ukrainian scientists

The programme of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to support scientists from Ukraine will continue. This was said by the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, at a meeting with Ukrainian scientists working in the Academy's institutes. After the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine, BAS provided its recreational facilities for accommodation and announced a donation campaign for Ukrainian refugees. The meeting was held on the initiative of the scientists from Ukraine, who thanked the leadership of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for their help. A total of 17 Ukrainian scientists from Kharkiv, Kiev, Melitopol and Severodonetsk are continuing their professional development in units of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Prof. Preshlenova with an award from the Democritus University of Thrace in Komotini

The Director of the Institute of Balkan Studies with Center of Thracology at BAS Prof. Dr. Roumiana Preshlenova was awarded the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa of the Department of History and Ethnology at the Faculty of Classics and Humanities of Democritus University of Thrace in Komotini. The award is for her contributions to Balkan Studies and Bulgarian-Greek scientific cooperation. The ceremony took place on March 29 during a scientific meeting on "Balkan Culture in the Modern Era" with the participation of Bulgarian and Greek scholars. The event was attended by lecturers, students and the Counsellor at the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Thessaloniki, Mr Valentin Pavlov.

Honorary SILVER plaquette for the Institute of Catalysis of BAS

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences awarded the Institute of Catalysis of BAS with an Honorary Silver Plaquette on the occasion of its 40th anniversary. The distinction is also awarded for significant scientific achievements in the field of development of new catalysts and cutting-edge technologies with environmental orientation. The solemn celebration on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Institute of Catalysis was held in the Seminar Hall of the Institute. The first hydrogen electric car in Bulgaria is registered in the name of IEES-BAS

Information on the development of CoC "HITMOBIL" was presented at a press conference The registration of the first hydrogen electric car in Bulgaria is already a fact and its owner is IEES-BAS. The Hyundai Nexo electric vehicle has been purchased under a public procurement procedure for the supply and warranty support of an electric vehicle with hydrogen fuel cells required for the establishment/upgrading of the research infrastructure of Laboratory 5: "HIT for Energy Storage and Electromobility" - part of the HITMOBIL Centre of Competence project. Meeting with Elsevier representatives at BAS

A meeting of scientists from the chemical institutes of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with Dr. Sergey Varnavskiy, Business Development Manager for Southern Europe, Asia and Türkiye at Elsevier and Mr. Vladimir Danailov, Regional Director for Eastern Europe at Elsevier was held on 22.03.2023 at the "Ivan Evstratiev Geshov" Hall. At the meeting the possibilities of the Reaxys database in the field of chemical sciences were presented. The opportunities that Elsevier provides to support research in Bulgaria and their perspectives were also discussed.
