Exhibition “Notes on Bulgarian Orchids” and presentation of the book “Orchids in Bulgaria”

The exhibition "Notes on Bulgarian Orchids" was opened at the National Museum of Natural History of BAS (NMNHS) on 25 April and the book "Orchids in Bulgaria" was presented. The exhibition can be viewed in the Botany Hall of the museum until the end of the year. The book is a unique phototype edition of a manuscript with botanical notes and drawings by Lyuben Domozetski. Today, when there are many opportunities to document observations and verbalize knowledge, the author of the manuscript turns to this archaic model to introduce us to an exciting and interesting topic - the wild orchids of Bulgaria. Ecology of the Black Sea – from molecule to ecosystem

On the occasion of the Earth Day innovative scientific research and projects on the topic: ECOLOGY OF THE BLACK SEA - FROM THE MOLECULE TO THE ECOSYSTEM were presented on April 21, 2023 in “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. International Youth Biennale “Bulgarian Traces in the World – with Palette, Camera and Word”

  On April 20, 2023, the second edition of the International Youth Biennale "Bulgarian Traces in the World - with Palette, Camera and Word", organized by the Bulgarian Sunday School "Assen and Ilia Peikov" and the Cultural Association "Parallel 43" in Rome, Italy, was launched. The main goal of the forum is to revive the collective memory of Bulgarian communities abroad and the youth in Bulgaria through the recovery of tangible and intangible cultural monuments (such as customs, traditions, artworks, architectural monuments, historical places, personalities, temples, etc.) scattered around the world where our compatriots live. The Ambassador of Kazakhstan on a visit to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Bulgaria H.E. Viktor Temirbayev. Prof. Revalski briefed the guest on the history, structure and activities of the Academy. The two sides agreed to cooperate in strengthening and developing bilateral cooperation between BAS and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting was attended by Mr. Meiram Aitzhanov, Third Secretary at the Embassy of Kazakhstan.

Meeting of Prof. Revalski with the Ambassador of Austria H.E. Andrea Ikić-Böhm

The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, met with the Ambassador of Austria to Bulgaria H.E. Andrea Ikić-Böhm. Among the main topics of the conversation was the cooperation between scientists from both countries over the years. Prof. Revalski said that the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences has good relations with the Austrian Academy of Sciences with which BAS has been cooperating since 1977 and is a partner in international organizations such as the European Academies’ Scientific Advisory Council (EASAC).  Н.E. Andrea Ikić-Böhm briefly presented the scientific activities in Lower Austria.

BAS continues to help Ukrainian scientists

  The programme of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to support scientists from Ukraine will continue. This was said by the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, at a meeting with Ukrainian scientists working in the Academy's institutes. After the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine, BAS provided its recreational facilities for accommodation and announced a donation campaign for Ukrainian refugees. The meeting was held on the initiative of the scientists from Ukraine, who thanked the leadership of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for their help. A total of 17 Ukrainian scientists from Kharkiv, Kiev, Melitopol and Severodonetsk are continuing their professional development in units of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
