Memorandum of Cooperation between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan

  The President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of BAS, and the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Prof. Kunsulu Zakarya signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two scientific organisations. The ceremony, which took place in Astana, was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Kazakhstan H.E. Boyan Hadjiev. Prior to the signing of the document, the heads of the two Academies discussed the opportunities for deepening cooperation between the scientists from Bulgaria and Kazakhstan. Among the priority areas of joint activity are biotechnology, mathematics, materials science, nuclear physics and others. Exhibition “Cajal, 170 years”

  An exhibition "Cajal, 170 years", dedicated to the Spanish Nobel laureate Santiago Ramon y Cajal, was opened today at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The exhibition is on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of the birth of the Spanish scientist and the 90th anniversary of the opening of the Cajal Institute. Santiago Ramon y Cajal is considered the founder of neuroscience for his discoveries about the mechanisms that govern the morphology and connecting processes of nerve cells. This exhibition tells the story of Cajal's remarkable life, his great contributions and dedication to science. BAS awarded 22 young scientists for 24 May

A solemn assembly on the occasion of the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and of the Slavonic literature was held at the “Prof. Marin Drinov" Hall of BAS.  During the ceremony the awards for young scientists "Professor Marin Drinov" and for the youngest scientists "Ivan Evstratiev Geshov" for 2022 were presented. The prizes are awarded by the General Assembly (GA) for achievements in nine scientific fields. The President of the GA, Corr. Member. Pythagoras Awards for scientists of BAS

    The 2023 Pythagoras Awards of the Ministry of Education and Science were presented at a solemn ceremony held on May 19 at the University of National and World Economy. Two scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences were awarded the prestigious prize. An established scientist in the field of social sciences and humanities is sociologist Prof. Pepka Boyadjieva, DSc from the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of BAS. Postcard 90 years since the birth of Svetlin Rusev

  The project of "Postcard 90 years since the birth of Svetlin Rusev" was presented at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The artist Yana Aneva is the author of the project which includes the work "Vanga" 1990 by Svetlin Rusev (1933-2018). The ceremony is part of the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the great Bulgarian artist, academician of BAS. BAS develops a platform for collaboration with business

More than 350 participants in the third edition of "Science for Business" A platform for cooperation with business, which will present the developments of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, is prepared by the Joint Innovation Centre of BAS. It will include a virtual demonstration centre with products and technologies of BAS, a registry with the Academy's intellectual property and a virtual business incubator for start-up companies.
