In 2020-2022, the Social Survey Research Center of the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology - BAS has implemented a research project on the processes of public opinion formation and the possibilities to improve through mathematical modeling the sociological tools for predicting the development of public attitudes on important issues for Bulgarian society. One of the focuses of the project is the processes of formation of electoral attitudes and electoral behavior. An international online conference on the project for the establishment of early warning systems for crises under the Korean government’s Knowledge Sharing Program was held by the Economic Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, together with the Ministry of Economy. On 19 May 2020, the WHO Regional Office for Europe published the report "Spotlight on Adolescent Health and Well-being", presenting results from the international comparative survey "Health Behaviour in School-aged Children - HBSC", conducted in 2017/2018 in 45 countries in Europe and Canada. The survey has been conducted every four years since 1982 in a growing number of countries. The Department of Psychology at the Institute for Population and Human Studies - Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IPHS-BAS) implemented the second wave of research on stress responses and how to deal with it in conditions of spreading coronavirus infection in Bulgaria. The survey was conducted between 25 April and 2 May 2020 among a random sample of 868 persons surveyed. An additional focus of interest in the second wave is social change and the impact of social exclusion. The results show a slight decrease in the perceived risk of infection as well as a decrease in anxiety levels compared to the results of the previous study conducted in March.
