Scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences are participating in the Green Transition Forum 5.0 which has opened today and will last until 20 June at the Sofia Event Center. Competitiveness and innovation in Central and Eastern European countries are the focus of the largest transformation and development event in the region. Teams of institutes from different scientific fields of BAS are presenting current developments and news thematically related to the main topics of the forum.
Scientific results of our researchers, such as approaches to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, innovations for alternative energy, new technologies for application in food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals production, materials for high-tech applications and recycling for a circular economy, are showcased in a presentation during the five-day event. At a special booth of the Academy, participants can get acquainted with valuable publications of the “Prof. Marin Drinov” academic publishing house of BAS. On three of the days of the forum, leading scientists will be on site to explain in detail our activities in the field of green solutions for the development of the earth and society. The aim of our participation is to promote scientific thought but also to establish even more lasting contacts with business, with politicians with innovative thinking, with visionary people who are concerned about the future.
The President of the Academy, Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva, will participate on 20 June in the “Transforming Higher Education through Innovation and Research” expert panel.
The forum brings together leading experts, policymakers and business leaders to discuss ways Central and Eastern Europe can accelerate the transition to a sustainable economy without losing its competitiveness and offers strategic opportunities at the highest level – intensive B2B (business-to-business) and B2G (business-to-government) meetings. Organizers are the Green Transition Forum and Dir.bg. More than 3,500 high-level representatives from 30 countries from Europe, Asia and North America are joining the forum. Participants include three European Commissioners, ministers, MEPs, a Nobel Prize winner and top executives of global corporations.
The Green Transition Forum 5.0 has established itself as a major and important platform for dialogue between the European Commission, national governments, experts, companies and the media. With its fifth edition, the Forum positions Bulgaria as an active part of the conversation on the future of green policies in Central and Eastern Europe and even as an initiator of this debate in the region.
