Assoc. Prof. Eng. Petya Trifonova, PhD, is the newly elected director of the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography (NIGGG) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She is a distinguished scientist with over twenty years of professional experience in the field of Earth sciences and a long-standing researcher at NIGGG-BAS. Assoc. Prof. Trifonova’s scientific career is closely linked to the development of modern geophysics in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences hosted the XII National Geophysical Conference with international participation which was held under the title "New Challenges in Geophysics" on 29 and 30 September at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall.
