Scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences were inscribed in the “Golden Book” of the Patent Office at a solemn ceremony held in the Armorial Hall of the Presidency. The 41st inscription ceremony honored the most outstanding Bulgarian inventors and discoverers. Head of State Rumen Radev presented honorary diplomas for the entry to Prof. DSc Eng. Pavlinka Dolashka and Prof. Dr. Kostadin Kostadinov.

The Bulgarian innovators deserve recognition for their tireless work and dedication to modern society for the development of fundamental and applied science and care for environmental protection, the President said in his address. Our aspiration for Bulgaria to be a modern and prosperous country can only be achieved with respect for the people of science and progress, Rumen Radev said.

Prof. DSc. Eng. Pavlinka Dolashka is the head of the scientific team at the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry – BAS and of the Water module at the Centre of Competence “Clean&Cercle”. Prof. Dolashka is the author and co-author of 13 objects of industrial property in the field of chemistry and pharmacy, 12 of which have been implemented in cosmetic and pharmaceutical products distributed in the country and on the international market. The developed innovative technologies for obtaining biologically active substances from plant and animal sources, mainly from marine and garden snails, are intended for the treatment of bacterial infectious diseases, for tissue regeneration and restoration, as well as for protection against infectious diseases. The patented active components of snail mucus are included in a number of food supplements and cosmetic products developed in the period 2014-2022 by Bulgarian companies.

Prof. Dr. Kostadin Kostadinov is a professor of robotics and mechatronics at the Institute of Mechanics of BAS, founder of the GIS-TransferCenter Foundation and member of the Board of the South East European International Institute for Sustainable Technologies from its establishment in 2017 until 2021. Prof. Dr. Kostadinov is the author and co-author of 20 patents in the field of robotics and mechatronics, 11 of which have been implemented in various branches of industry, science and medicine. Among his patents are a robot for in vitro fertilization “Microna 01”, a robot Hydro-Mina, an adaptive device for robotic assembly, implemented in the robot for assembly of hydraulic pumps of Beroe Plant, a rotary digital table implemented in the National Center for Standardization and Metrology and others.

Toms Dersarkissian received the award for general contribution in the field of industrial property.

The ceremony was attended by the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, the Presidents of the Patent Office Prof. Dr. Vladia Borisova and of the European Patent Office António Campinos, ministers and guests.
