The diplomas of the new members of the Assembly of Academicians and Corresponding Members of BAS (AACM) were awarded at an official ceremony held in the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall. Eleven new academicians and 21 new corresponding members had been elected by the Assembly of Academicians at the elections held in September.

In front of the AACM, Prof. Revalski, Member of BAS, made a report on the management of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for the period from 2016 to 2024. During his two terms of office, three elections were held and 28 new academicians and 51 new corresponding members were elected, and on his initiative, the election of corresponding members up to the age of 50 was introduced.

In his report on the activities of the AACM, Prof. Revalski noted the active participation of scientists in discussions on all issues concerning the activities of BAS and the joint meetings held with the General Assembly of BAS. He also pointed out the sustained scientific, teaching and expert activities of the AACM which go beyond the activities of a large institute of BAS. The President congratulated the newly elected members of the AACM and wished them health and success. I am proud to have been the President of the most elite part of the Bulgarian society for eight years, he said.

As of October 1, 2024, the AACM has 164 members, including 66 academicians and 98 corresponding members. AACM establishes departments by groups of scientific and creative fields in which all members are united.
