Two “Evrika 2023” awards for young scientists of BAS

A ceremony for the winners of the Evrika (Eureka) Awards 2023 took place at the National Palace of Culture. The prizes were awarded in the presence of Vice President Iliana Iotova, the President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, the Chairman of the Council of Evrika Foundation Acad. Kiril Boyanov, the Vice-Rector of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" Prof. Madlen Danova, representatives of the scientific and academic community. Assoc. Prof. Marijana Stamova, PhD from IBSCT-BAS awarded by the Military History Commission

Prof. Dr. Marijana Stamova from the Institute of Balkan Studies with Center of Thracology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was awarded by the Military History Commission with a prize for research on Balkan military history and rapprochement of the countries and peoples of the region. The award was presented by the Deputy Chairman of the Military History Commission Ivan Sapunjiev at a ceremony held on 23 January. High praise from the Ministry of Energy

Minister of Energy R. Radev expressed his gratitude to the team from BAS who participated in the project for the preparation of the National Energy Strategy (with a focus on the electricity sector) in 2018, with the Economic Research Institute as the lead contractor. The partnership between BAS, the energy system companies and the Ministry of Energy is highly appreciated. The letter states that the summary report as well as the three interim reports of BAS on the Strategy provide an independent and credible assessment of the processes in the sector and will be helpful in taking important decisions for the transformation towards low carbon energy and for the implementation of the European Green Deal. Meeting of Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, with H.E. Sanjay Rana

An invitation for the participation of representatives of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in this year's edition of the World Oceanology Congress was extended by H.E. Sanjay Rana, Ambassador of the Republic of India to Bulgaria, during his visit to the Academy today.  The congress, organised by the National Institute of Ocean Technology under the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Government of India, will be held between 27-29 February 2024 in the city of Chennai under the title "Sustainable Utilization of Oceans in Blue Economy". The aim of the event is to bring together scientists, researchers, policy makers, industry leaders and environmentalists to address mutual interest in collaborative research, sustainable ocean management and the blue economy. Visit of the Ambassador of Slovenia H.E. Nataša Bergelj to BAS

The President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, met today with the Ambassador of Slovenia to Bulgaria H.E. Nataša Bergelj. At the meeting in BAS, Prof. Revalski and H.E. Bergelj discussed the development and potential strengthening of scientific cooperation between BAS and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA). The President of BAS extended an invitation to the President of SASA to visit BAS. Ambassador Bergelj was accompanied by Mirela Yolova, a student in Bulgarian Philology at SU “St. Kliment Ohridski” who was one of the participants in the initiative "Ambassador for a Day" - under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
