The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences awarded Prof. Dr. Stefan Ivanov, DMD, with a certificate and a badge of honor at a ceremony held in the “Academician Ivan E. Geshov” Hall of the Academy. The award was presented for his overall contribution to dental materials science and the implementation of new scientific technologies in the field of dentistry as well as for his many years of teaching, said BAS President, Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva, who presented the award. The President of BAS, Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva, met with Prof. Muzaffer Şeker, President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA). Prof. Şeker briefed Corr. Memb. Slavcheva on the structure, activities, and latest scientific publications of TÜBA which will host the World Science Forum next year. The forum will take place in Istanbul in March 2027. During the conversation, they discussed opportunities for strengthening scientific cooperation between the two academies as well as the exchange of scholars, information, and publications. The meeting at BAS was also attended by Prof. Abdulkadir Taşdelen, an advisor.  

On May 7, 2026, the “Peaceful Atom – Green Planet” Eco-Day was held at Scientific Complex 2 of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The event was organized by the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy, in collaboration with the Institute of Solid State Physics, the Institute of Electronics, the Central Laboratory for Solar Energy and New Energy Sources, and the “Radioactive Waste” State Enterprise. The event was dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986.
