The new book of Corr. Memb. Angel Stefanov: Changing Views of Space, Time, and the Universe, brought out by Lambert Academic Publishing. This book explores how and why modern scientific knowledge is undergoing conceptual changes in its understanding of space, time, and the universe. It argues for the substantive nature of spacetime. Gravity is presented not as a force field - in contrast to electromagnetic, weak and strong interaction. In this connection, the problem of the way to achieve a "theory of everything" is reconsidered. The narrative revisits what Einstein called his "greatest mistake" - the rejection of "spooky action at a distance". Six medals for Bulgaria from the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad in Australia

  The Bulgarian team after the award ceremony The 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2025) was held from 10 to 20 July 2025, hosted by Sunshine Coast, Australia. A record 630 students from 110 countries participated in the most prestigious and oldest mathematics competition. The competition days were 15 and 16 July, with 3 problems to be solved, scored out of 7 points each, in 4 and a half hours. The problem coordination took place on 17 and 18 July and the closing ceremony on 19 July. The Bulgarian team consisted of 6 competitors. A scholar studies the history of Bulgarians in French archives

Corresponding member Ivan Rusev is studying data from French archives related to the history of Bulgarians in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The research is being conducted in Paris with the financial support of the French government, after winning a competition under the programme "Séjour scientifique de haut niveau - Chercheurs confirmés" ("Scientific stay at high level – experienced researchers"). The work of Corr. Memb. Rusev is mainly related to documents in the French Diplomatic Archives in Courneuve, widely known as the archives of "Quai d'Orsay" and the archives of the Ministry of Defence in Vincennes. The President of BAS meets with the Ambassador of Austria H.E. Andrea Ikić-Böhm

The President of BAS, Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva, met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria H.E. Ms. Andrea Ikić-Böhm today at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. During the conversation, Ambassador Ikić-Böhm underlined the traditionally good bilateral cooperation between Austria and Bulgaria and emphasized the scientific and cultural ties between the two countries. Opportunities for joint cultural initiatives with the assistance of BAS were discussed. In the course of the meeting, the organization of a joint event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the signing of the the first agreement with the Austrian Academy of Sciences, which will take place in 2027. Three young scientists from BAS meet with Nobel laureates in Lindau

  Three young Bulgarian chemists took part in the 74th edition of the Nobel Laureate Meeting with Young Scientists in Chemistry. The event took place in Lindau, Germany, from 29 June to 4 July. Erik Dimitrov from the Institute of Polymers, Lyuben Borislavov from the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry and Boris Yanachkov from the Institute of Metal Science, Equipment and Technologies with Centre of Hydro and Aerodynamics "Acad. Angel Balevski” took part in the meeting which was attended by 30 Nobel laureates and over 600 young researchers.
