On November 7, 2024, the Institute of Solid-State Physics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences marked an important step in expanding its network of international partnerships with a focus on innovation by signing a cooperation agreement with a leading Japanese institute – the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR), Kyoto. The memorandum was signed in Sofia by Assoc. On the Day of the National Enlighteners at a ceremony at the "St. Cyril and Methodius” National Library, the "Follower of the National Enlighteners" prizes were awarded. Prominent scientists and artists were awarded by the Union of National Community Centers on whose idea the initiative was implemented. The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, was awarded by the President of the Union Prof. Nikolay Doynov. Panels tell the story of the building On the Day of the National Enlighteners - November 1, two panels were placed in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences which tell the story of the building of BAS. The first part was built as early as the XIX century. The panels are located in the Academy, in two arches after the entrance, and are a tribute to the enlighteners - the 22 actual members of the Academy who took the risk of taking out a state loan for the completion of the northeastern part of the BAS building and guaranteed for it by mortgaging their own, personal properties. Scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences were awarded the Zlaten Vek Award of the Ministry of Culture. The Zlaten Vek award ceremony was held today in Sredets Gallery. Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov presented the awards and stressed that the national enlighteners were those people who gave meaning to the existence of the nation.
