Institute of Solid-State Physics “Acad. Georgi Nadjakov”  signed a memorandum with a Japanese research institute

 On November 7, 2024, the Institute of Solid-State Physics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences marked an important step in expanding its network of international partnerships with a focus on innovation by signing a cooperation agreement with a leading Japanese institute – the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR), Kyoto. The memorandum was signed in Sofia by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekaterina Yordanova, Director of the Institute of Solid State Physics at BAS, and Dr. Hiroyuki Suzuki, Senior Executive Vice President and Representative Director of the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International (ATR). “Follower of the National Enlighteners” Award

On the Day of the National Enlighteners at a ceremony at the "St. Cyril and Methodius” National Library, the "Follower of the National Enlighteners" prizes were awarded. Prominent scientists and artists were awarded by the Union of National Community Centers on whose idea the initiative was implemented. The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, was awarded by the President of the Union Prof. Nikolay Doynov. BAS celebrates the Day of National Enlighteners

On the occasion of the Day of the National Enlighteners, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences honoured scientists and journalists. At the solemn assembly which was held today in the "Prof. Marin Drinov Hall, the winners of the awards were announced. The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, presented the awards and thanked the journalists for showing the public what the scientists in Bulgaria were doing. The 2023 BAS Award for Journalists in the Electronic Media category was presented to Ani Baldjian, TV presenter of the "Good Morning Europe" program on Euronews Bulgaria and Anton Gruev, presenter of the "Futurism" program on Bloomberg TV Bulgaria. Tribute to the enlighteners of BAS

Panels tell the story of the building On the Day of the National Enlighteners - November 1, two panels were placed in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences which tell the story of the building of BAS. The first part was built as early as the XIX century. The panels are located in the Academy, in two arches after the entrance, and are a tribute to the enlighteners - the 22 actual members of the Academy who took the risk of taking out a state loan for the completion of the northeastern part of the BAS building and guaranteed for it by mortgaging their own, personal properties. “Zlaten Vek” Award for BAS Scientists

Scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences were awarded the Zlaten Vek Award of the Ministry of Culture. The Zlaten Vek award ceremony was held today in Sredets Gallery. BAS scientists with awards for significant scientific achievements

Scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences were honored at a solemn assembly on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria (USB) which was held today in the hall of the Sofia Municipal Council. At the meeting, diplomas were awarded to those honored with the title "Honorary Member of UBS" and prizes in the Contest for Scientific Excellence for 2024.
