Pythagoras Awards for scientists of BAS

    The 2023 Pythagoras Awards of the Ministry of Education and Science were presented at a solemn ceremony held on May 19 at the University of National and World Economy. Two scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences were awarded the prestigious prize. An established scientist in the field of social sciences and humanities is sociologist Prof. Pepka Boyadjieva, DSc from the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of BAS. In the category for established scientist in the field of natural and engineering sciences the award goes to Prof. Stoycho Yazadzhiev, DSc, from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski” and the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of BAS who is a corresponding member of the Academy. Fourth Interdisciplinary Doctoral Students Forum with International Participation

The Fourth Interdisciplinary Doctoral Students Forum with International Participation was held from 16 to 19 May 2023 at the Spartak Hotel in Sandanski. The event was organised by the Training Center (TC) of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the Career Center of TC. Prof. Nihoritis with a diploma of foreign member of BAS

The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of BAS, presented a diploma of foreign member of the Academy to Prof. Konstantinos Nihoritis. The ceremony took place on May 18 at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS. Prof. Nihoritis was elected in March as a foreign member by the Assembly of Academicians of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. He is a distinguished Greek Old Bulgarian scholar and theologian with numerous publications on Bulgarian cultural history and its links with Mount Athos. Librarian of 2022 award for the Director of the Central Library of BAS, Dr. Silvia Naydenova

The Annual National Library Awards for 2022 were presented on 16 May at the Ancient Cultural and Communication Complex "Serdika". The event was held within the XVII National Library Week under the theme "Sustainable Libraries for a Sustainable Society". The awards are presented in four categories. In the Librarian of 2022 category, Dr. Silvia Naydenova, Director of the Central Library of BAS, was selected. Exhibition “Stories from Glagolitic Times”

15 May – 29 May The year 2023 marks the 1160th anniversary of the creation of the Glagolitic alphabet by St. Constantine-Cyril the Philosopher. In connection with this, a team led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yavor Miltenov from the Institute for Bulgarian Language of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences has prepared an exhibition "Stories from Glagolitic Times" which is on display in the Crystal Garden in Sofia and can be viewed until May 29. BAS with an award from the Bulgarian Red Cross

On the occasion of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, at an official ceremony today in the building of the National Council of the Bulgarian Red Cross, BAS was awarded with the Honorary Badge of Humanity - Henry Dunant of the Bulgarian Red Cross and a Diploma for the organized donation campaign by the Assembly of Academicians and Corresponding Members of BAS (AACM) in support of the National Campaign of the Bulgarian Red Cross in support of the victims of the conflict in Ukraine.
