On March 4, 2025, in the “John Atanasoff” Hall of Sofia Tech Park, a solemn celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Institute of Polymers at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences took place.
Among the official guests were Prof. DSc Vassil Kirov – Chairman of the General Assembly of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Prof. Dr. Neli Koseva – Scientific Secretary-General of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Prof. DSc Margarita Popova – Scientific Secretary of “Nanosciences, New Materials and Technologies” division, Prof. Dr. Stoyan Shishkov – Deputy Rector of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Prof. DSc Krasimira Yoncheva – Vice-Rector for Science and Accreditation of Medical University-Sofia, Prof. Dr. Sevdalina Turmanova – Deputy Rector for academic work of “Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov” State University, Burgas. Directors of institutes, guests, colleagues and business representatives were also present.
The Institute of Polymers at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences holds a leading position among scientific organizations in Bulgaria in the field of polymers and polymer materials. For these 35 years, the Institute has established its name as a leading research and innovation centre in the field of polymers. “The Institute’s scientific results are highly appreciated by the scientific community, and its employees are sought-after partners for innovative scientific developments. With their expertise, they support the work of a number of state institutions, in the development and application of innovative technologies, etc.,” the congratulatory addresses state.
The celebration was opened by the Director of IP-BAS, Corr. Memb. Petar Petrov, who presented interesting facts from the history and activities of the Institute, current topics, projects and achievements. It was noted that since March 1, 1990 the Central Polymer Laboratory was transformed into an Institute, by an Order of the Bureau of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria.
