From today, Sofia Airport is named after the Apostle of Freedom Vasil Levski. President Rumen Radev issued a decree (on the basis of Article 98, item 13 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria by his Decree No. 22 of 17 February 2025) by which the official name became "Vasil Levski" airport - Sofia. The implementation of joint projects and initiatives between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan were discussed at a meeting at the Academy by the President of BAS, Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva and the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Bulgaria, H.E. Viktor Temirbayev. Among the topics of the discussion was research in the field of green energy. Corr. Memb.   Scientific secretaries in seven of the nine research areas of BAS were elected by the General Assembly of the Academy at a meeting held on 10 February. According to the Statutes of BAS, the Scientific Secretaries have a term of four years and are part of the leadership team of the President of the Academy.   The cooperation between BAS and the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) in the field of cultural and historical heritage was discussed at a meeting at BAS by the President Corr. Memb.
