Popular arias performed by young talents on the BAS stage

  A concert under the title "Spring Walk" was performed by the graduates of the National Music Academy last night at the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall. Students of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mariana Pencheva presented performances from the Baroque to the music of the 20th century. The program included popular arias from operas by Mozart, Wagner, Georg Handel, Gaetano Donizetti and others. Particularly impressive were the performances of some Master's students, as well as the countertenor Yordan Petev from the Vocal Faculty. BAS participates in the Sofia Science Festival

Scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences are participating in the Sofia Science Festival 2025 which takes place from today to 11 May in Sofia Tech Park. The theme of the demonstrations and discussions, organized by the Institute of Bulgarian Language, is: "Competition with Large Language Models", and their focus is on the following questions: what is the place of language technologies in our everyday life; how to use them properly and when to rely on them; who are the experts in the field of linguistics and language technologies. BAS leadership discusses forms of cooperation with India

  The President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva met with the Ambassador of India to Bulgaria H.E. Mr. Arun Kumar Sahu. The Ambassador noted the dynamic development of science in India and stressed the need to establish a contractual framework for cooperation between BAS and scientific organizations in India which would contribute to strengthening the ties between the scientific communities of the two countries. The meeting, which took place at BAS on 30.04 this year, also discussed the opportunities for training of PhD students from India in the scientific units of BAS and holding events jointly with the Embassy of India. Meeting of the President of BAS with the Rector of Baku Slavic University

The President of BAS Corr. Memb. Evelina Slavcheva met today at the Academy with the Rector of Baku Slavic University, Azerbaijan, Dr. Anar Nagiyev. The main activities at the University are the teaching and study of Slavic languages and the in-depth study of the history and culture of the countries where these languages are spoken. Dr. Nagiyev informed Corr. Memb. Slavcheva about the work of the Centre for Bulgarian Studies which was part of the University structure. The Centre currently has more than 50 students, and the study of Bulgarian language enjoys great interest. Corr. Memb. French finesse hovered over the Big Hall of BAS yesterday

On 28.05. at 6 p.m., the third concert of the "MUSICORUM VIA. Two academies - one stage" series took place. Talented students from the Instrumental Faculty of the "Prof. Pancho Vladigerov" National Music Academy performed works by French composers in front of the full hall of BAS. The programme included opuses by Ravel, Debussy, Saint-Saëns, Poulenc and others. Particularly impressive were the performances on violin by Viktor Trenev and piano on four hands (Yana Chupetlovska and Konstantin Krondev) which led the listeners to enthusiasm for the mastery of the young musicians and provoked well-deserved compliments to their teachers. The Vice-President of BAS Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov meets with the Director of the Centre for Bulgarian Studies in Kharkiv

The Vice-President of BAS Prof. Emmanuel Moutafov met today with the Director of the "Marin Drinov" Center for Bulgarian Studies at the University of Kharkiv Dr. Vladimir Salenkov. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Mikhail Stanchev, a former lecturer in Kharkiv, who since the beginning of the hostilities in Ukraine is part of the Ukrainian scholars whom BAS has offered to continue their academic research in our country. "In Kharkiv, we are proud that our city is the birthplace of Prof. Marin Drinov”, Dr. Salenkov said during the conversation. He introduced Prof. Moutafov with the idea to erect a monument to the prominent Bulgarian scientist and first president of the Bulgarian Learned Society in Kharkiv.
