Study reveals in detail the quiet Sun at low frequencies Calibrated interferometric images of the quiet solar corona on 07.08.2021 in low frequencies (24.60-78.90 MHz) observed by LOFAR. The Sun is an active star that has significant radio emission over a wide frequency range from kHz to THz, and the solar atmosphere has a complex distribution of magnetic field, plasma density and temperature. These different properties of the solar atmosphere lead to different radio emission characteristics at different frequencies. Interferometric imaging observations of solar low-frequency emission can help diagnose the properties of the plasma at high altitudes in the solar atmosphere. Calibrated interferometric images of the quiet solar corona on 14.08.2021 at low frequencies (24.60-78.90 MHz) as observed by LOFAR. In [...]

Demonstration project for hydrogen deployment in transport is being developed by BAS

A prototype of a trolleybus, which Bulgarian scientists of BAS are transforming into a hydrogen-powered transport vehicle, was shown to the EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel, the Executive Director of the public-private partnership “Clean Hydrogen” Bart Biebuyck, and the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy. The development of Bulgaria's first demonstration project for hydrogen deployment in transport was presented at “Levski” trolleybus depot. For the first time in Bulgaria the "retro fitting" method is applied to transform a trolleybus into a hydrogen electric vehicle. The trolleybus will not only be powered by overhead lines, but will also perform a 100-kilometre hydrogen run. The development is part of the implementation of the National Scientific Programme [...]

Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of BAS, and Minister Nikolai Denkov opened the celebrations on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Paisii

The name of Paisii Hilendarski undoubtedly stands at the top of the list of national Revival leaders, who skillfully used his knowledge of the past to put sharply on the agenda of society the tasks of the present and to outline the prospects for the future. With these words, the President of BAS, Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, opened the conference "In the Beginning was History" in Bansko and gave a start to the celebrations on the occasion of 300 years since the birth of Paisii and 260 years since the writing of “Istoria Slavenobolgarskaya" (History of Slavo-Bulgarians). These two anniversaries are a wonderful occasion to turn once again, with the power of impartial scientific studies, to the dawn of that epoch [...]
