Three women scientists from BAS awarded for innovative projects

Assoc. Prof. Ina Aneva, Dr. Mariya Kalapsazova and Nina Stoyanova-Nankova from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences are this year's winners of the national fellowship "For Women in Science" for Bulgaria. The prestigious distinction was awarded to them for their ground-breaking scientific projects at an official ceremony in Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski”. The "For Women in Science" fellowships are one of the most renowned and highly anticipated scientific awards in Bulgaria, granted each year by L'Oréal and UNESCO to young women scientists. The awards aim to support their research careers as well as motivate them to reach their full potential for scientific discovery. The number of researchers of BAS included in the top 2% of the world’s top scientists in the Stanford rankings is growing

Forty-one scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and another 7 members of the Assembly of Academicians and Corresponding Members who work in universities are among the top two percent of top scientists in the world, according to Stanford University's career-long impact ranking published recently. In the Stanford rankings published in 2020, scientists working at BAS were 25. Now their number is 41 which unequivocally shows the high standing of Academy researchers among the global scientific community and their leading role in world science. A total of 73 researchers from Bulgaria from different fields of science have found a place in the ranking of the American university. The National Archaeological Institute at the age of 100

Honorary plaque of BAS - gold for the National Archaeological Institute with Museum A celebration of the 100th anniversary of the National Archaeological Institute of BAS was held in the Central Hall of the National Archaeological Museum. It is the oldest scientific institute in Bulgaria, established by decree of Tsar Boris III on 16 July 1921.   In 1947, the Institute was incorporated into the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), and in the following year, by a decree of the Council of Ministers, it was united with the National Museum into one institution under the name of the Archaeological Institute with Museum.
