The event was attended by the mayor of the city Elena Baltadzhieva, Chief Assist. Prof. Dr. Malamir Spasov from IBSCT-BAS and Mr. Boris Spasov, Chairman of the Dobrudzha Scientific Institute. Rare archeological finds of 8 000 years in the Neolithic settlement of Slatina

A team of archaeologists led by Corresponding Member Vassil Nikolov, Vice-President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences discovered four Early Neolithic graves almost 8 000 years old in the village of Slatina in Sofia. Together with the two graves discovered last year, they are the earliest on the territory of Sofia and the Sofia plain. Digitalization and innovation in the field of cultural heritage

The main activities of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences related to the digitalization of cultural heritage were presented by the Vice-President of BAS, Corresponding Member Vassil Nikolov, at an international video conference on the problems of digitalization and innovation in the field of cultural heritage. Gained Independence – Polish and Bulgarian Perspectives in Volume XXXV of the Bulletin of the Institute for Historical Studies

All-focus Volume XXXV of the Bulletin of the Institute for Historical Studies has been published. The collection contains materials from the Polish-Bulgarian scientific conference held in November 2018 at BAS on the topic: "The gained independence - Polish and Bulgarian perspectives". The organizers of the forum were: the Institute for Historical Studies at BAS, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Bulgaria and the Polish Institute in Sofia. The event was held as part of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Poland's independence and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Exhibition “Clothing and Linguistic Treasure” in the National Ethnographic Museum

The exhibition "Clothing and Linguistic Treasure" in the National Ethnographic Museum is open to visitors until 15 August 2020. The opening took place on 16 June, in Hall 11. The exhibition is part of the scientific project "Local production, clothing and linguistic treasure (contribution to historical linguistics and anthropology of dress)". The project aims to study and publish in electronic form little-known archival documents from 1888 and 1889, stored in the Scientific Archive of BAS. They are over 1 100 pages of handwritten descriptions of clothing and about 150 photographs taken specifically to show some of the clothing. The organizers of the exhibition thank the Scientific Archive of BAS for agreeing to exhibit facsimiles and photographs, part of the manuscripts studied in the project. The project [...]
