On 24 October 2025, an Open Day of the CLaDA-BG e-Infrastructure for Bulgarian Language and Cultural Heritage was held in the “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS. The event took place on the occasion of the LALDA Day at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. At the opening of the event, solemn speeches were held by Prof. Shtelian Shterionov, Vice-President of BAS, and Ms. Zornitsa Georgieva, expert at the Science Directorate, Ministry of Education and Science.
In the first part of the event, presentations were made by scientists from the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies on the nature and activities of CLaDA-BG, the work with language resources and the use of 3D technologies. Presentations were also made by representatives of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, the Institute of Balkan Studies & Centre of Thracology and Shumen University “Bishop Konstantin of Preslav”. The papers were on topics related to language resources and technologies, as well as on the collection, research and digitization of the Bulgarian language and cultural heritage.
In the second part of the event, participants presented the results of their activities in poster and demo sessions. Participants and visitors had the opportunity to exchange experiences and to follow in practice the work of different products related to:
- researching different aspects of speech and creating dictionaries;
- digitization of medieval manuscripts and sources on the historical past;
- researching buildings of historical importance for Bulgaria’s past;
- visualization of annotated documents with large language models;
- digitization of the archive of the “Ivan Vazov” National Library – Plovdiv;
- intelligent digital management and representation of large datasets and knowledge from the humanities and social sciences;
- 3D-visualization of ancient artifacts;
- creation of a Bulgarian corpus in an interactive platform for children’s speech;
- exploring verbal associations;
- knowledge extraction from text to create Bulgarian corpus with events;
- conducting anthropological research on public perceptions of the recent past and interpreting various aspects of it in a discussion manner;
- updating texts to the modern Bulgarian orthographic norm.
The event was attended by over 50 people from various organizations: universities, BAS institutes, libraries, students, etc.
