An invitation for the participation of representatives of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in this year’s edition of the World Oceanology Congress was extended by H.E. Sanjay Rana, Ambassador of the Republic of India to Bulgaria, during his visit to the Academy today. The congress, organised by the National Institute of Ocean Technology under the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Government of India, will be held between 27-29 February 2024 in the city of Chennai under the title “Sustainable Utilization of Oceans in Blue Economy”. The aim of the event is to bring together scientists, researchers, policy makers, industry leaders and environmentalists to address mutual interest in collaborative research, sustainable ocean management and the blue economy.
Prof. Julian Revalski and H.E. Sanjay Rana also agreed to cooperate in strengthening and building links between BAS and research organizations in India. The possibility of scientists from the Academy to participate in programmes of the Indian Institute of Science scheduled for implementation in 2024, which will allow Bulgarian scientists to learn about the activities of their Indian colleagues, was discussed.
