Education

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences employs highly qualified and internationally recognized specialists with in-depth knowledge in contemporary areas of science. It is therefore natural for scientists from BAS to try to pass on their knowledge, experience and skills to young people wishing to pursue science. In this connection, BAS takes special care of the education of PhD students, students and pupils.

The research units at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences are accredited for doctoral training in dozens of programs. For the effective coordination of the activities related to the training of PhD students, the PhD Training Center specialized unit was created.

Along with higher education institutions from and outside Bulgaria, programs are organized for the training of students in”Bachelor” and “Master” degrees .

The Academy is a leading center for enhancing teachers’ qualifications, and a number of initiatives aimed at improving secondary and primary education have become traditional.

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences conducts scientific research in accordance with  universal values, national traditions and interests. It participates in the development of world science and helps to multiply the spiritual and material wealth of the nation.

For the effective coordination of activities related to the training of PhD students, the specialized PhD Training Center unit  has been established.

Educational initiatives

The School Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (SchI-BAS) aims at providing opportunities for the expression and development of pupils from 8th to 12th grade who are willing to engage in research in one of the fields of science and its applications.

Erasmus+ is the European program for education, training, youth and sport that will continue until 2020. It has a budget of € 14.7 billion – an increase of 40% compared to the previous one, reflecting the EU’s commitment to these areas .
