BAS receives a positive opinion on the naming of Sofia Airport

The Ministry of Transport and Communications supports the implementation of the project proposed by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for naming Sofia Airport after the brightest historical figure for Bulgaria, Vasil Levski. This has become clear during the meeting held by the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, and the Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimira Stoyanova today at the Academy. Minister Stoyanova handed to Prof. Revalski the positive opinion of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and informed him about the necessary concrete actions for the naming of Sofia Airport. Caretaker Minister of Education and Science Prof. Galin Tsokov awards the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski with a Plaquette

At a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of BAS held on 20.11.2024, Minister Galin Tsokov honoured Prof. Julian Revalski with a Plaquette of the Ministry of Education and Science for his overall activity as the President of BAS in two consecutive terms and for the joint work between the two institutions. The plaquette has been made by Bulgarian students from the “Velizar Peev” Vocational High School in Svoge and depicts the Bulgarian alphabet. The President of BAS presents a report on his management during his two terms of office

A report on the management of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for the period from 2016 to 2024 was made today before the General Assembly of BAS by the President, Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy. The second term of office of Prof. Revalski is expiring on 7 December. Exhibition on the occasion of the 155th anniversary of BAS at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg

  On 5 November the exhibition marking 155 years since the establishment of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences was opened at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. The event was organized jointly by the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Council of Europe, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the European Association “Cyril and Methodius”. Ambassador Maria Spassova, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Council of Europe, presented the exhibition as a journey through time, tracing the contribution of BAS in various fields of modern science. BAS celebrates the Day of National Enlighteners

On the occasion of the Day of the National Enlighteners, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences honoured scientists and journalists. At the solemn assembly which was held today in the "Prof. Marin Drinov Hall, the winners of the awards were announced. The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, presented the awards and thanked the journalists for showing the public what the scientists in Bulgaria were doing. The 2023 BAS Award for Journalists in the Electronic Media category was presented to Ani Baldjian, TV presenter of the "Good Morning Europe" program on Euronews Bulgaria and Anton Gruev, presenter of the "Futurism" program on Bloomberg TV Bulgaria. BAS celebrated 155 years since its foundation

The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences celebrated on 12 October 155 years since its establishment with a solemn assembly and concert which took place in the building of the Sofia Opera and Ballet. The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, greeted the scientists and guests at the celebration. In his speech, he recalled that BAS is the leading scientific centre in Bulgaria where world-class research is conducted.
