“Cultural Heritage in the Digital Age” scientific conference held at BAS

The Institute of Balkan Studies & Center of Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IBSCT-BAS) held a scientific conference with international participation on the "Cultural Heritage in the Digital Age" theme. It was organized on 30 July at the "Acad. Ivan Geshov" Hall of BAS. The sessions of the conference were devoted to cultural heritage as an online resource and to the past, present and future of encyclopaedias. Exhibition presents artefacts from Heraclea Sintica in the Greek city of Dion

  The "Secrets and Mysteries of Heraclea Sintica - a journey in time" exhibition of the History Museum - Petrich is presented within the framework of the "Olympus" festival which is held in the Greek town of Dion. At the 54th edition of the forum which started in June and will last until August 28, Bulgaria is an honorary partner and presents its rich cultural heritage. Prof. Lyudmil Vagalinski from the National Archaeological Institute with Museum of BAS, who is the head of the archaeological team exploring Herakleia Sintica, gave a lecture at the opening. Interactive exhibition in Berlin of the Institute of Art Studies

In July and August, the "Architectural Heritage in Virtual Reality" exhibition realized by the Institute of Art Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and within the National Scientific Programme for the Development and Recognition of Bulgarian Studies Abroad (NSP "Bulgarian Studies") will be presented again in the hall of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin. Due to the great interest it aroused among Berliners at its opening in May 2025, the exhibition will be available for a longer time for those wishing to visit it. A public meeting-discussion on "Greece's culture is far more than the Acropolis" was held today at the “Acad. Ivan E. Geshov" Hall of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Old Bulgarian translated texts in focus at an international conference at the University of Naples “L’Orientale”

 Leading specialists from ten European countries gathered at the University of Naples “L’Orientale” (24-26 June 2025) to discuss issues related to the transmission of Old Bulgarian translations from the Middle Ages to the Modern Age. The scientific discussion focused on the problems of reconstruction of texts, preparation of critical editions and linguistic study of written monuments. The scientific event, sponsored by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, was organized by Prof. Alessandro Maria Bruni, Foreign Member of BAS. Among the participants in the prestigious scientific forum were four BAS scientists - Prof. Veselka Zhelyazkova and Prof. Svetlina Nikolova from the Cyrillo-Methodian Research Centre and Prof. Lora Taseva and Assoc. Prof. Dobriela Kotova from the Institute of Balkan Studies & Center of Thracology.  

Honorable mentions for Prof. Aleksander Naumow from Bulgaria and Poland

With a particularly solemn and lavish ceremony, according to its centuries-old tradition, on 24 June Jagiellonian University renewed the doctorate of the doyen of Polish Paleo-Slavic studies, Bulgarian and Cyrillo-Methodian studies, Prof. Aleksander Naumow - on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its bestowing. The Rector of the University, Prof. DSc Piotr Jedynak presented the merits of Prof. Naumow to their Alma Mater, his enormous scientific and didactic contribution, as well as his numerous and productive ideas that gave a strong impetus to the study of the spiritual culture of Slavdom.
