The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Member of the Academy, attended the ceremony “Academic Oscars” for 2023, organized by the “24 hours” newspaper. The awards are based on the Rating System of Higher Education Institutions in Bulgaria, an annual ranking organized by the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) and a consortium including the Open Society Institute and the Sirma Group.

Prof. Julian Revalski presented the awards to the Rectors of the “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” National Academy of Music – Prof. Sava Dimitrov (first place in the Music and Dance Art category) and to the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts, Plovdiv – Prof. Toni Shekherdjieva-Novak (first place in the Art Theory section). For the Academy, the quality of education in higher education institutions is of utmost importance, said Prof. Revalski in his congratulations to the laureates. He recalled the history of BAS – since 1940 there has been a department at the Assembly of Academicians and Corresponding Members related to artists. Until 1947 the Academy was the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and then it was renamed by law.

The event was opened by the Prime Minister Academician Nikolai Denkov.  Representatives of the academic and business community, ministers, mayors and media participated.

The ceremony presented the rating system as the best benchmark for young people and their parents which universities and which professional fields give young people the best chances for realization; where to enter with the highest grades from secondary education; which are the specialties that guarantee 100 percent employment immediately after graduation; what is the most profitable to study in Bulgaria.
