Simons Foundation Grant for the International Center for Mathematical Sciences at BAS

The International Center for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS-Sofia) at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of BAS will receive a grant from the Simons Foundation, one of the largest charitable organizations in the United States. This was announced during a lecture of Prof. Yuri Tschinkel. The lecture was held at the Intercontinental Hotel Sofia. The grant amounts to over BGN 1 million for a period of 3 years. Distinction of the President of BAS for Jörg Schenk

Jörg Schenk, Counsellor at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bulgaria and Head of the Science and Translations Departments, was awarded with the Badge Distinction of the President of BAS. The award was presented at the Academy in the presence of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany H.E. Christoph Eichhorn, the Board of BAS and representatives of the Humboldt Union in Bulgaria. Round Table “Crises and Challenges in Eastern Europe 50s-90s of XX c.”

The crisis phenomena in the recent history of Eastern Europe are the subject of discussion in scientific forums organised by the Institute for Historical Studies - BAS. At the round table on "Crises and Challenges in Eastern Europe - the 50s-90s of XX c", held within the framework of the bilateral project with the Institute of History of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, thematic fields marking turning points in political history during this period were discussed. VIII National Conference with international participation “Morphological Days”

The Institute of Experimental Morphology, Pathology and Anthropology with Museum - BAS, together with the Bulgarian Anatomical Society, organised from 10 to 12 June 2022 the 6th National Conference with international participation "Morphological Days". The opening of the forum and the first two plenary sessions were held in the Sofia Hall of Interpred - WTC Sofia, and on 11 and 12 June the scientific sessions continued in the auditorium of the National Anthropological Museum at IEMPAM-BAS. The conference was realised with the financial support of the Bulgarian National Science Fund - project KP06-MNF/22. Private capital in support of science

Prof. Yuri Tschinkel shares global experience with a lecture on 13 June The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics and the International Center for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS-Sofia) are organising a lecture by Prof. Yuri Tschinkel, Head of the Department of Mathematics of Courant Institute at New York University, USA, and Director of the Mathematics and Physical Sciences Division of the Simons Foundation. A new approach in biomedical materials processing proposed by Bulgarian scientists

The "Academician Emil Djakov" Award for best scientific publication in 2021 in the field of radiophysics, physical and quantum electronics was presented at a ceremony at the Institute of Electronics of BAS. The Institute's Scientific Council awarded the prize to a team of researchers who made the greatest scientific breakthrough in the past year. Scientific team composed of Dr. Maria Ormanova, Assoc.
