BAS continues to help Ukrainian scientists

  The programme of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences to support scientists from Ukraine will continue. This was said by the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, at a meeting with Ukrainian scientists working in the Academy's institutes. After the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine, BAS provided its recreational facilities for accommodation and announced a donation campaign for Ukrainian refugees. The meeting was held on the initiative of the scientists from Ukraine, who thanked the leadership of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for their help. A total of 17 Ukrainian scientists from Kharkiv, Kiev, Melitopol and Severodonetsk are continuing their professional development in units of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Meeting of Prof. Revalski with the Ambassador of Algeria to Bulgaria

Cooperation with the "Houari Boumediene" University of Science and Technology in Algeria was discussed at a meeting between the President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, and the Ambassador of Algeria to Bulgaria H.E. Mrs. Baya Bensmail. During the conversation Prof. Revalski presented the activities of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, its history and structure. As an example of successful cooperation H.E. Mrs. Bensmail pointed out the exhibition on the occasion of the Independence Day of Algeria, held at the National Archaeological Institute with Museum of BAS last year. Award for BAS in the national competition “Building of the Year 2022”

The Central Building of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1, 15th November Street, Sofia) has been awarded a special prize "Conservation and restoration of facades/artistic elements and artistic lighting" in the category "Social infrastructure - culture, science and education" in the National Competition "Building of the Year 2022". The annual awards were presented at a gala ceremony on 15 December at Sofia Event Center. The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, received the award. Awards for Women in Science

The awards in the twelfth edition of the national fellowship programme "For Women in Science" were presented at a ceremony at Sofia University "St. Kl. Ohridski”. Three inspiring Bulgarian women scientists were honoured for their research ideas as fellows of the programme for 2022. Scientists from BAS inscribed in the “Golden Book” of the Patent Office

Scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences were inscribed in the "Golden Book" of the Patent Office at a solemn ceremony held in the Armorial Hall of the Presidency. The 41st inscription ceremony honored the most outstanding Bulgarian inventors and discoverers. Head of State Rumen Radev presented honorary diplomas for the entry to Prof. DSc Eng. Pavlinka Dolashka and Prof. Dr. Kostadin Kostadinov. The Bulgarian innovators deserve recognition for their tireless work and dedication to modern society for the development of fundamental and applied science and care for environmental protection, the President said in his address. Awards of BAS for Prof. Diana Petkova and young scientists

The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, presented Prof. Diana Petkova with the Honorary Medal of BAS "Marin Drinov on a Ribbon". The distinction is awarded for significant scientific achievements in the field of biochemistry and biophysics, for her multifaceted public, organizational and expert activities to raise the authority of Bulgarian science and on the occasion of her 70th anniversary.
