Meeting of the European Academies’ Scientific Advisory Council (EASAC)

The President of BAS Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of the Academy, and the Scientific Secretaries of BAS Assoc. Prof. Ina Aneva and Prof. Denitsa Borisova participated in a meeting of the European Academies’ Scientific Advisory Council (EASAC) on 8-10 June 2022 near the city of Prague, Czech Republic. The theme for the exchange of experiences among EASAC member academies was "How can we best use our experience for future science-based advice? How can we increase our impact at national and European level?". Distinction of the President of BAS for Jörg Schenk

Jörg Schenk, Counsellor at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bulgaria and Head of the Science and Translations Departments, was awarded with the Badge Distinction of the President of BAS. The award was presented at the Academy in the presence of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany H.E. Christoph Eichhorn, the Board of BAS and representatives of the Humboldt Union in Bulgaria. VIII National Conference with international participation “Morphological Days”

The Institute of Experimental Morphology, Pathology and Anthropology with Museum - BAS, together with the Bulgarian Anatomical Society, organised from 10 to 12 June 2022 the 6th National Conference with international participation "Morphological Days". The opening of the forum and the first two plenary sessions were held in the Sofia Hall of Interpred - WTC Sofia, and on 11 and 12 June the scientific sessions continued in the auditorium of the National Anthropological Museum at IEMPAM-BAS. The conference was realised with the financial support of the Bulgarian National Science Fund - project KP06-MNF/22. Highest state awards for Acad. Sabotinov and Acad. Popchev

Acad. Nikola Sabotinov and Acad. Ivan Popchev were honored on the eve of 24 May with the highest state awards. President Rumen Radev awarded Acad. Nikola Sabotinov with the Order of “St. Cyril and Methodius" - necklace for his particularly significant merits in the field of science. Acad. Sabotinov has outstanding scientific achievements in the fields of quantum electronics, laser physics, laser technology, plasma physics and optics. He is the author of nearly 400 scientific articles and 30 protected copyright certificates and patents at home and abroad. He is a member of the Governing Board of the European Nuclear Fusion Enterprise, the Advisory Board of the European Academies of Sciences. In the period 2008 - 2012, Acad. Scientists from BAS with the Pythagoras Prize

Five scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences received the Pythagoras Award of the Ministry of Education and Science for their contribution to science. For the first time in each category, awards were given to an established and a young scientist. In the field of natural sciences and engineering, two established scientists were awarded - Prof. Dr. Margarita Popova from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) and Prof. DSc Ivo Grabchev from SU “St. Kliment Ohridski". Scientific conference on the occasion of the 110th birth anniversary of Prof. Zhivko Stalev and 100th anniversary of the birth of Prof. Vitali Tadzher
