The Vice Presidents of BAS, Corr. Memb. Evdokiya Pasheva and Corr. Memb. Stefan Hadjidodorov, today discussed the Bulgarian-Japanese relations in the field of science with representatives of Tokai University and the "Sts. Cyril and Methodius” international foundation. The meeting was attended by Prof. Kiyoshi Yamada, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Tokai University, Prof. Naoto Yoshikawa, Vice-Chancellor of Tokai University, Mr. Hisara Tanaka, Asst. Executive Director (Global Initiatives) of the Office of the Chancellor of Tokai University and Dr. Manami Hori, Director of the European Centre of Tokai University in Denmark. Scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences participated in the third edition of the Bulgarian Youth Festival "Hello Space! Bulgaria Calling!" which took place on 29 June in Sofia Tech Park. Its aim is to spark the imagination of children and young people in Bulgaria, to encourage them to dream and plan, to pursue careers in science, technologies, engineering, art and mathematics and to find solutions through science. The event was organised by the national Space & STEAM Cluster and the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria, with the support of the US Embassy in Bulgaria and NASA (Houston).   The Director of RIKEN Europe Office Dr. Toshiyasu Ichioka visited the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences at the invitation of the President Prof. Julian Revalski, Full Member of BAS. RIKEN is the largest research institution in Japan, renowned for high quality research in a diverse range of scientific disciplines. Dr. Ichioka met on 18 April with Prof. Julian Revalski and the Chief Scientific Secretary Prof. Neli Koseva. During their conversation, the RIKEN Director was introduced to the scientific activities and structure of BAS. After the meeting, Dr. Ichioka gave a lecture to the scientists of the Academy in “Prof. Marin Drinov” Hall of BAS.
